Brother and Sister (1/2008)

Wow....NOW she decides to smile. Well, it was probably being hugged by her sweet brother and having Papa take the photo.

Nathan in Missouri (1-14-08)

Learning to eat from a spoon. It's not quite the same as Mama!

Nathan seems to really love the camera. Aunt Kristi has been getting some great shots on her visit to Missouri. I LOVE this bright-eyed photo of Nathan.

And I think in this photo that he REALLY looks like Sheila when she was a baby.

Ratzlaff Christmas Photos

Oh, the trials of getting ONE decent photo even though there are two very photogenic young men.

It's the other child, the feminine one who had a definite agenda and having her picture taken was NOT on the the day's agenda. And we even tried on two different days. It wasn't on her agenda for the second day and no day in the future looked at all promising!

The brothers were unbelievably patient and tried to cajole their little sister into a more relaxed pose but she was having none of that.

Tayvan and Nathan (1-08-08)

Tayvan and Andres relaxing at the Bergies house. Andres told me that we could cook a meal next time I come. We're going to make eggs with cactus and then tamales. Yumm. Chelsea seemed a little alarmed (shocked?) that Andres and I were planning on cooking with cactus.

Yup, it's an actual photo of Jan with the two boys. What handsome fellows.

The Gundersons in Eugene

January 8, 2008
Little Nathan Gunderson after a bath. What a cutie-patootie!
Nathan and Nana in Eugene. Gundersons here from Missouri for Christmas.
Sheila and Paul were always on the go, but I caught them for 2 minutes not moving.

Paul tells me that since Nathan has such tight buns, his stools shoot UP. So Paul really cinches those diapers on!

Kannanaskis Loop, Alberta Canada October 2007

The Canadian Rockies are jagged and rough. I read somewhere that these mountains were not caused by "uplift" but I"m not sure what geological phenomena actually caused their formation.

Tom, ever the forester, was standing at the side of the road so I could take his picture, but as I was trying to compose the shot, I noticed he was checking out the little tree.

It was pretty much an overcast week when we were in Canada. But this day when we made this loop and when we stopped for lunch by a lake, I used my 300 mm lens and caught this mountainside and the sun peeking through the clouds. The sun moved across the face of the rocks as if God were saying "Did you see this? Look at this! Now notice this ridge!"
The book of Romans says that God is revealed in nature. He was here for sure.

Kannanaskis Loop

On our drive around the Kannanaskis Loop. At this point we were high up in the mountains. It was a gray day but even so, the mountains were very impressive.

October 20th 2007

Betty and me at Lake Louise with Victoria Glacier in the distance. Amazingly beautiful and the water was a wierd green-blue color that they said was due to the rock flour.

I bought into a time-share program and my first visit to one of the sites was Canmore, Alberta and Tom and Betty came with me. We arrived at night and couldn't see a thing (barely found the resort). The next morning, I woke up and looked out the bedroom window and saw a few hills and an open forest. Nothing too impressive but I was on vacation so I was happy. But when I stepped out the front door of the resort (on the opposite side of the building from my bedroom) I stopped in my tracks and looked up. Betty laughs and said "You froze and said 'Betty! Look! Up!'" A great place for my first WorkdMark stay as a new owner.
